1. Love the fabrics.
2. Maybe an apron, or a couple bags……

My first thought would be to make some pillowcases for my bed out of flannel and a matching throw but that is subject to change. I love Charley Harper!

Sarah

November 2, 2013 #

Love the color combinations and the natural motiffs! Five yrds should get my family of three some matching pj pants for those nights of popcorn and movies!

Stephanie

November 2, 2013 #

I am dying to try knits for my kids’ pajamas! The Charley Harper graphics are so cool!

Claire

November 2, 2013 #

I am excited for the new range because its so awesome to find someone doing organic cottons in cool prints. After reading a few articles on the the horrible way cotton can be produced I think that organic cotton is the only choice – it can just be hard to fine in prints I like sometimes! With 5 yards I’d make a full skirted 1950s inspired dress.

Mari

November 2, 2013 #

I love this fabric. Love the color palette and the prints. To me, it is new and very fresh. I am overloaded with sewing projects as my daughter’s home burned to the ground on Sunday, October 20. I will be making quilts for her three children and clothes for the children. NOT complaining – am rejoicing as everyone is safe – “stuff” can be replaced.
Thank you for the opportunity to win some much needed fabric.

Teri

I love that I could make things for my boys with this collection! I would love to make flannel pajamas from 5 yards of the fabric.

Caroline

November 2, 2013 #

The collection is awesome, I love both websites. Thank you for sharing. If I won I and the fabric was suitable I would use it for blouse or dress (I’f I am courageous enough – I’m a newbie) for myself.

November 2, 2013 #

Oh my. I’d love to say how I’d make a christmas gift for someone with it. But I wouldn’t. I would hoard it for the perfect project. Maybe a Hawthorn?

November 2, 2013 #

I love the colors & prints of this new collection! :) And it would work for a boy or girl. I think it would make a fabulous quilt. Thanks for a chance to win! :)

Charley Harper is one of my favorite artists. I have several of the bird prints hanging in my kitchen! 5 yards of fabric is enough for so many projects. I’m thinking a cute circular skirt to start…

Though I am just becoming familiar with this particular designer, I am glad that I am a fan of Colette patterns blog community that keeps me informed and up to date with exciting fabric designers, online stores, and new pattern selections. I would love to have my pick of any of the beautiful fabrics showcased here, because I have t-shirt and dress patterns begging to be made up in the bright and interesting fabrics.

Patricia

November 2, 2013 #

I love the whimsical designs and were I to win, the curtains for my bedroom would finally be sewn. I’ve got very sold blue walls and they need a bit of fun with the curtains. Then, I would finally be rid of all the blinds in my house.

Marchelle

November 2, 2013 #

My father and grandfather participate in the Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count every year. This would make great shirts or something to wear the day of!

Jessica A.

November 2, 2013 #

The Charlie Harper for Birch fabrics looks fabulous! They look kind of “autumn-y” and “wintery” without looking drab – there is still life in the prints. And four different textiles in the collection – you could use the collection to make ANY project come alive.

I’d make a kind of maxi skirt and a framed clutch purse to match.

Joslyn

November 2, 2013 #

I love the prints — nature-inspired but modern, and I love that they come in cotton, knit, flannel and canvas — so many options and so versatile!
I’d probably use one of the prints for a dress, or get several different prints for a quilt.

Laurie Brown

November 2, 2013 #

I love Charley Harper’s prints; they are like Japanese meets the 1960 space age type prints!

I’d make a dress from a vintage pattern; something with a fitted bodice and a full skirt.

Jen S

November 2, 2013 #

I love the colors and birds in this line. I could see a nice quilt coming out of it, but I’d really like to use the canvas to make Noodlehead’s Supertote!

Mary

November 2, 2013 #

I just love Charlie Harper and have his calendar and some posters. If I had 5 yards of this fabric I would make a duvet cover for my bed and enjoy it everyday!

Jedichick

November 2, 2013 #

I love the mod styling of the prints. I’d totally make some new sewing machine covers and a matching cover for my hedgehog’s cage (he lives in the sewing room), since my current ones are looking pretty tired and garish in my new apartment.

Michael Ann

November 2, 2013 #

Oh goodness I love Charlie Harper! I’m dying to make my new little family of three cheesy matching jammies for Christmas Eve this year, and oh man would we look cool in some Charlie Harper flannel!

Denise

November 2, 2013 #

I would give the fabulous bird fabric to my nine-year old son and his two friends. They’ve started a bird club. I’d have them choose the fabric and decide what sewing projects they would do for their club. They already like making flags with remnants and grommets, but with five yards, there’s potential for them to do so much more. And inspiring boys to sew is just plain… awesome!

Sherry S

November 2, 2013 #

Wow! Such fun patterns. I am new to this collection and very excited to hear about knits being added to the mix! I would love to win some of this fab fabric. I am just starting to teach my kids to sew, so this would be great for them. Best of luck to everyone!

Amy

Oh my goodness! I love Charley Harper so it would be so fun to wear his work! Five yards would be plenty to make a beautiful dress and that is most definitely what I would do if I won!

I have the pattern for a Hawthorn dress and when I’ve finished my ‘Sew to Fit’ Craftsy course that’s the dress I want to make.

I’ve been both bird watching and sewing from childhood so these Charley Harper prints resonate with me! I’d probably pick the flannel and make some pjs for me and my daughter.

Pink Scissors Design

Charley Harper art reminds me of the illustrations in some of my favorite children’s books. It sweeps one up and takes them to a far off place of creativity, imagination, and beauty.

November 3, 2013 #

I’m always amazed at what designers can think of when designing fabrics!!! We don’t have those talented people here in France, unfortunately.

I think I could sew either a quilt (my first!) or some peek-a-boo skirt for my daughter.

Emma Prout

November 3, 2013 #

I literally squealed with excitement when I saw that this collection had come out! I am a huge Charley Harper fan (we have several framed posters of his work up in our flat) and it’s brilliant that the prints will be available across a range of fabrics.

I’d definitely start by making cushions or blinds for the little 1930s flat that my partner and I are just in the process of buying in South London. The designs would go so brilliantly with the original features in the building. Then after that perhaps a dress for my friend’s gorgeous 1 year old daughter, then a dress for me… so many options!

Kim Dimond

November 3, 2013 #

It reminds me of looking out to my backyard. I would love to make winter themed clothing for my two granddaughters.

Colette

November 3, 2013 #

Gorgeous fabrics, and the Cardinal is soooo cute just like the fabric which looks like Queen Anne’s Lace flowers. Lovely colors. Fabric for quilts, or Canvas to repurpose some found dining room chairs.

Jennifer Northrop

November 3, 2013 #

I would make a dress form a Vintage pattern for my daughter who loves fun prints and the 50’s dress patterns always need loads of yardage for the bug skirts. I would then make a cress for my niece with the remainder of the fabric or something for myself, perhaps pajamas.

Melanie

November 3, 2013 #

I’m a huge fan of Charley Harper and have ben really, really looking forward to this fabric collection! It’s so hard to choose what I’d make. Cushions or a quilt… and I think I would need some canvas to make a bag. Or maybe a bunch of bags to give to my family for Christmas presents!

Diane

November 3, 2013 #

Wow, the Charley Harper fabric is just beautiful. I think I would use some for a garment or maybe a baby quilt. Thanks for the chance to win!

Kelley

November 3, 2013 #

We love Charley Harper! Our boys have an ABC book of his, so I’m guessing they’d be delighted to have more of his fabulous art around. Since my toddler just announced that he wants me to teach him to sew, I’d use the fabric to encourage his interest and make pillows for the boys, and then some clothes for me now that I’m getting back to my pre-baby weight and am excited to be able to wear real clothes again. Gorgeous fabric!

Jennifer Wilkins

November 3, 2013 #

I love the charley harper kids toys and paper products because they are just so darn pleasant and refreshing to look at! They make simple things in life more fun. With the fabric I would love to make a duvet cover because it is so hard to find organic cotton that looks stylish and modern. It would totally transform the bedroom!

Amanda

November 3, 2013 #

The birds are so cute. I think I’d make flannel sheets for my little boys’ beds.

Carol Binion

November 3, 2013 #

It’s great to read that there are new ORGANIC options available. The textile industry has been notoriously toxic in the past… Bravo for a nudge in the right direction! I would like matching flannel Jammie’s for my seven-year old nephew and myself. He would LOVE THAT!

Deborah Morrison

November 3, 2013 #

I am excited about the artistic beauty of this new line of fabrics. If I won five yards I would make Violets for myself and my daughters.

I am so in love with windmill whimsical woodland prints, especially ones with birds on them and they are hard to find. These are perfect. And I works love to have five yards because I am a student with a clothing construction minor and I am always making clothes for class and these prints would be perfect for my style I have chosen.

Liana

November 3, 2013 #

What a beautiful collection of prints! I must admit the name Charlie Harper is new to me. I’m sure I must have seen the fabrics but not known the designer, but won’t happen again, hehe. All of these fabrics are just so gorgeous together, I’d love to make a scrappy quilt using quarter square triangles.

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

Love that these new fabrics are garment fabrics! Usually all the things that catch my eye are quilting cotton so I was doing double takes the whole time-really excited that they’re poplin, knit and flannel! I usually makes clothes for a little boy so with 5 yards I would selfish and make something for me!

Fliss

The colours and the pattern of the fabric is whimsical and dreamy. I am in love with this collection. I would make a gym bag with the canvas, a dress with the knit and the rest a few accents in a quilt or some kids clothes for my niece and nephew.

Oh wow – Charlie Harper’s cardinals are so fun! My best friend loves cardinals and she lives in a state that doesn’t have cardinals, so I’d make her a blanket so she can look at them all the time :)

Jill

November 3, 2013 #

These prints are adorable! I’ve been getting into sewing again after a few years of being busy with school. These gorgeous colours and patterns remind me of when I first learned to use a sewing machine — my grandma took me to the local shop and helped me pick out some fabrics with pretty colours. I’ve been planning to make her some throw pillows this year as a Christmas gift, and these prints would be perfect. She would particularly love the ones with cardinals, as she and my grandpa are avid birdwatchers :)

Birch fabrics are fab to work with,,,and the Charley Harper line makes me swoon. 5 yards to do with what I want? First,,I’d pet it for a while to get inspiration,,,then a dress or a tunic,,or a Zinnia or 2. But only after i’d given it the proper adoration first. Thanks for the chance to win.

I’ve been dying to get my mitts on this fabric since I learned this collection was coming! The mother of a dear friend of mine introduced me to Charley Harper’s artwork and I’ve been smitten with his work ever since. I love his birds – but his woodland creatures are equally mind blowing if you haven’t seen them!

I would love to make myself a skirt (maybe Beignet?)… and would be sure to save enough to make a little something for my friend’s mom. :-)

I LOVE Charley Harper and his style of painting, and I love birds.

With 5 yards, I would make a dress, and, if my baby turns out to be a girl, when it’s born in May, would make her something matching too! My son already has the Charley Harper A-Z book.

Those are beautiful fabrics! I just bought the Colette Sewing Handbook – have recently acquired a sewing machine to force myself to learn to tailor clothes and costumes properly, as I used to be a theatre costumer. If I won 5 yards of any of these gorgeous fabrics, I’d be making clothes from the patterns in the Sewing Handbook, and maybe even a matching bag or two. And maybe even one to give away!

Angela

November 4, 2013 #

I am so excited about the Charlie Harper fabric! Charlie Harper has been my mother’s absolute favorite artist for years, and I rather adore his work as well. And now there is Charlie Harper fabric?! It does not get better.

If I were to win the fabric, I would use the flannel to make a simple block quilt. A block quilt would show off the beautiful Charlie Harper designs AND the flannel would make it wonderfully snuggly. I would, of course, need to give the finished product to my mother, or I would never forgive myself for depriving her of such a perfect blanket.

Cathy

November 4, 2013 #

I love anything Charley Harper. Right now, I have a box of blank notecards that I haven’t used yet because I love them so much. If I had this fabric, I would male a little dress or maybe some warm pajamas. Wish me luck!

Five yards?! That’s so generous! I’m excited to see an organic collection in prints that don’t scream “granola.” These prints are easily adaptable to both adults and kids. I’d love to make a retro shirtdress and a matching tote bag!
