I love those fabrics!! The colors and prints are right up my alley. I would probably make a dress with the fabric, but what pattern I’m not sure.

Geez, that artist is talented. I would love to make a bunch of reusable grocery bags for friends and I. Austin recently outlawed plastic bags in stores, which is great for the environment!

Lynn

I love Charlie Harper’s work! I think I’d make a quilt top from a selection of these fabrics!

Tina C.

November 2, 2013 #

I adore the whimsy of these fabrics… Everyone needs a little whimsy in their lives!

Should I win, I’d either make a dress with the knit (maybe a By Hand London Anna) or is choose the flannel for a quilt cause its starting to get cold!

I love the birds!! We have long winters in Alberta, Canada!! I would make a quilt so that I could look at the colorful birds during the long, long winter!!
Beautiful!

Charlie Harper is a midmod dream! Clean, organic lines and beautiful colors.
I see a skirt for me in one of the birdie prints and a couch quilt for my mom in the rest!
Thanks for turning me on to the Fabricworm blog!

Honest answer I’d I don’t know. The fabrics are so lively and fun, I’d be tempted to make a new tablecloth for my long dining table. I’d be able to enjoy the fabric whole, every day. That would take about 3 yards, so with the additional yardage, I’d see if I could squeeze out a zinnia skirt.

Kristen

November 2, 2013 #

Love these because they remind me of photos of my grandma’s house from the 1960s. I would make a full, swishy circle skirt with five yards!

BraveLittleTailor (Eva)

November 2, 2013 #

Because their fabric puts me in a good mood. Makes me smile. 5 yards? Make beautiful curtains, pillows and wall art in my “music room” (where I read and listen to old records)… And a matching blouse to feel even more home! :)

Crystal

November 2, 2013 #

OH my gosh! I was so excited to find a new store, Birch Fabrics, to find fabrics from. As a mom of two little ones I don’t spend tons of time searching for new online stores so when they come up I’m thrilled. I try really hard to shop outside of the main three craft stores in our area. SO I love this new collection, it’s perfectly appropriate for winters in Michigan. :) And I would make my girls a matching set of pj’s, which I have been scouring online for and not coming up with anything I’m satisfied with. But these would be so fabulous! Thanks for sharing about Birch. :)

I love the leaves and the birds and all of it.
If I won, obviously, I’d spend a lot of time looking at the fabric and stroking it and draping it. Then I would put it in one of my colour coded boxes for a while and enjoy it there, feeling reassured by the quality of my stash.
Then I would get it out and place it with other pieces that might set it off and make it pop. I’d look at those combinations for a while. I might consider making some small thing with it like purse or a small bag or some tiny bunting, but will probably decide against that and use an older piece first.
Then after some months I might be able to bring the scissors to it but more than likely only for some of the really key pieces in one of my Lucky Stars Block of the Month Club blocks from Don’t Call me Betsy. It will be hard but I shall do it. The only comfort being that I still have swathes of it left.
I am drooling at the prospect…

I love Charley Harper’s art and Birch Fabrics has the best designs. I would use this fabric towards a quilt for myself.

November 2, 2013 #

I love those Charlie Harper prints – I love that they are colorful without being childish or young. If I had 5’yards of the flannel, I would make a fabulous full-length robe just for me!

Teresa Ward

November 2, 2013 #

Am a newbie to Charley Harper, but like what I see.

Five yards of fabric would keep me busy for a couple of weeks sewing for my 3 youngest grandchildren, ages 3yo, 7mo, and due to be born any day! This is so much fun!

Lisa

November 2, 2013 #

5 yards! Fabric to really make something. Jacket, purse, blouse…maybe. Something substantial. Then with the bits left I would use in my fiber art (art quits). I already use many Japanese contemporary prints in my work already, so you have got my attention!

Karen

November 2, 2013 #

Five yards…I see Christmas dresses or skirts for the grand daughters. Beautiful fabrics!

Nicki

November 2, 2013 #

Such elegant simplicity to Charley Harpers designs makes them so special. Would make my husband a shirt and Christmas gifts!

Colleen

November 2, 2013 #

I love FabricWorm!!!!! And, the Charley Harper looks wonderful. I think I’d like some poplin for a dress and a couple of yards of knit for a cozy winter tee. I know it’s going to be high quality and so many knits are not! Ooooooh, pick me, my darlings!

Ninon

November 2, 2013 #

Bird brain here! I would love to use the 5 yards to make the red velvet dress for the sewing cake sewalong! I can’t wait to check out the knits – did someone say twigs mineral? Thank you for bring the sewing community together and helping us find fabulous vendors–

Lois

November 2, 2013 #

Love to see women making a difference by producing organically and being successful. Also love to see sisterly photos of business ladies. I am starting on a baby quilt and am making a hollyburn skirt for my teen daughter. A fresh infusion of fabric would be a wonderful inspiration.

Beth B.

November 2, 2013 #

I love love love knits and like to see companies branching out into that area. With five yards, I would probably make matching dresses for me and my daughter!

Red

November 2, 2013 #

I would use the trees print to make a Crepe dress for me and a Music Box dress from Oliver + S for my daughter. The leftover scraps would be used for a quilt for the new baby we are hoping to adopt next year.

Hester

November 2, 2013 #

Oh, what gorgeous prints! With five yards, I’d be torn between making some cosy flannel pyjamas (I am almost obsessed with hand-made pyjamas, I’m just a few steps short of going all Hugh Hefner and living in them), or choosing a crisp poplin and using it for a vintage Simplicity 4920 (http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Simplicity_4920_A); I picked up this pattern at my local Value Village recently, and it would look gorgeous in the teal fabric third from the bottom in that last picture!

amy

November 2, 2013 #

I would love some knits! I would definitely sew a dress for myself, as well as some clothes for my kids.

Lara

November 2, 2013 #

Oo what beautiful fabric. I would love to win any of those pieces and if I won I think I would have to buy even more so I could make up a little collection! x

Sadie

November 2, 2013 #

Charley Harper is one of my favorite artists. I have a sweet little collection of books, prints, needlepoint and other items with his art. I would LOVE to make a dress to wear for the holidays or to wear to work when I am at the art museum. Thank you for the chance! Love Birch Fabrics too.

Sheila

November 2, 2013 #

Wow, the Charlie Harper fabrics are so scrumptious! I don’ t know if I could pick just one. :) I really love leaves and trees! My granny’s favorite bird is the Cardinal, too. I would make myself a knit top and a knit nursing top for my daughter. If I had enough left, I would make a doll or a toy for my new granddaughter. <3 Thank you for offering this giveaway! It's wonderful no matter who wins.

Melanie

November 2, 2013 #

I’m so in love with Charley’s style. I love the woodsy, neutral styles and colors. I’m having my first child in April and have decided to make everything. 5 yards would go far for bedding, clothes and decor. Since I’m not finding out what the baby is, I would love to use something from this collection. It’s all gorgeous!

Laura Beck

November 2, 2013 #

I have just found your blog and shop and I’m excited about your fabrics. Would love to start sewing clothes for my grandchildren now that I have retired! Or maybe start sewing for myself — but I love to quilt too — so many possibilities!

Alessa

November 2, 2013 #

Oooh, I love Birch fabrics! The only reason I haven’t bought any yet is because they’re so difficult to get in Germany without paying a buckload of International shipping…
Those prints look very pretty! And they’ve got knits and flannel?! I have a hard time deciding, but I’d either go for flannel and make PJs… or perhaps an wintery skirt…? With 5 yards, I might manage to make both! The alternative, of course, is to go for a knit (maybe those cute dandelion seeds?) and make a comfy dress. :)

Elyse

November 2, 2013 #

I adore Charley Harper. Especially the bird prints… And the beautiful colors. If I had five yards I ‘d definitely make a dress and would then decide between a jacket or a top.

Linda Nelson

November 2, 2013 #

Such a beautiful collection. I would have to make a dress and a tunic out of the organic knits. How exciting!

Edie

November 2, 2013 #

I’m another longtime Charley Harper fan who introduced my daughter to him a few years ago with a Christmas gift of “Birds and Words.” She immediately fell in love with his delightful illustrations. If I won, I would use the fabric to make her Christmas gift for 2013–tablecloth and napkins for her new apartment. She would be so thrilled!

homesteadcat

November 2, 2013 #

Great colors, interesting designs, love ’em! I would make (with canvas) some Daytripper bags (designed by Dog Under My Desk). These are exactly the kinds of designs/fabric I would want for this type of sewing. 5 yards is a generous amount – would make you feel like you really won something and it was your lucky day!!!

Martha Lyle

November 2, 2013 #

I love the quality of the Birch fabrics, and these designs are so cool! I especially like the way various prints can be combined, and the vivid yet subtle colorways. I could make great outfits for my great-grandchildren!

Desedera

November 2, 2013 #

This is a new one for me. I am excited about a new source for beautiful organic fabrics!
If I won I would make a holiday Peony for myself, my daughter-in-law, and a mini one for my grand daughter.

PoldaPop

November 2, 2013 #

I love the knits! My favorites are the Cardinal Stagger and Twigs (love both colors). With 5 yards are fabric I would likely make tops for myself and my girls, or maybe PJs, and definitely scarves with the leftover scraps! Thank you for hosting the giveaway!

Lisa

November 2, 2013 #

Wow…I’m just excited because all the prints look so fun and whimsical and youthful (as opposed to the Hobby Lobby fabric department, where I normally get my fabric, which usually just feels quilt-y, a craft I have yet to pick up). I think I’d make a dress–probably two with all that yardage!

Kat

November 2, 2013 #

I love the new designs. They are works of art. I would use my 5 yards to back a quilt.

Mary

November 2, 2013 #

I love love love knits and am always one the look out for great graphic patterns on knit. What to make? a Cozy comfy fall dress to wear for the day and the best lounge pants to change into when I got home. This would make a lovely surprise for my birthday on Tuesday!

M

November 2, 2013 #

I’m not too familiar with Charley Harper (gasp!) but the prints are so cute:)

Elena

November 2, 2013 #

I love anything Charlie Harper! I’ve made several cross-stitch pieces using vintage patterns I found. With the fabric I could make a lap quilt so the beautiful fabric could be on display.

Sandy

November 2, 2013 #

Love Charley Harper and the wish list keeps growing. I’d start with a baby quilt and savor every bit of scrap for future piecing.

Cassie

November 2, 2013 #

Any of those fabrics would make really cute t-shirts or dresses! I would love to win!

SewSewcial

November 2, 2013 #

1) I am looking forward to the new collection because I love the graphics I have seen in the previous collections, the fact they use organic materials, and the fact that the material is of such a high quality.

2) I would most likely decide to make a new frock for myself, then my wife would fall in love with me fabric and I would end up making something for her. But perhaps I can be a little selfish and make something for myself.

Shannon

November 2, 2013 #

I love organic knits and Charley Harper’s style so the combination of the two is exciting! With 5 yards I would…hmmm, first up would definitely be a t-shirt.

Tammy

November 2, 2013 #

What whimsical patterns. I think 5 metres would go a long way towards sewing some gorgeous desk pockets in my classroom. Thanks for your consideration.

Jessica

November 2, 2013 #

The fabrics are amazing and beautiful! Very excited for the new prints! I always love fall fabrics! With 5 yards of their fabulous fabric-a beautiful vintage inspired dress would be the perfect project!!

deborah

November 2, 2013 #

I’ve been collecting wildly beautiful prints in the last month in hopes of finding just the right ones to have in the mix for a new quilt for my husband and I. I gravitate toward birds and nature scenes of all varieties. When i clicked through to the Charley Harper collection i was floored. Looks like every pattern is full of life and beauty! Only problem would be in restricting myself from stashing a bit of the WHOLE collection!

Shannon

November 2, 2013 #

I’m always on the lookout for organic cotton, and I love these prints! I don’t think I would be able to decide between them but I can picture one of them becoming a Hawthorn dress (which will be on my to-make list in the spring).

Chris Lynch

November 2, 2013 #

I have been following Birch Fabrics for a little bit now and would love the opportunity to actually fondle the fabric. I would probably make a skirt and/or bag from the fabric if I won. I love all the birds in the new line.

maggie

November 2, 2013 #

I love it when cute fabrics are available in something other than quilting cotton. I’d probably get some knit and some canvas fabric, and make shirts and bags.

Christianne

November 2, 2013 #

The new Charley Harper Collection from Birch Fabrics is so full of color and wonderful graphic designs !I have a new grandchild and would love to use the 5 yards in one of the knit fabrics to make a blanket and matching sleeper or two. I love the blue knit with what looks like white dandelions on it. So different than the usual “baby ” prints I see so much.

Jo Batey

November 2, 2013 #

flannel pj’s would be fab but then again only family would see them – what a waste. Then again people go out in onsies why not go out in super cool jammies! However I think I would likely go for the knit fabric and make a lovely comfy dress/ tunic. I have a Ottobre pattern which would make up nicely. Or a skater dress. Or perhaps matching cotton dresses for my girls. Mmmmm!

Gaenor

November 2, 2013 #

These prints are beautiful! I don’t really know where I would start with making things from it – but do like that they are fairly gender neutral so it could be something like pjs all round for the kids.

Katrin

November 2, 2013 #

I love the retro 50s style of Charley Harper’s designs. I would make either cushions for our living room or a fabulous dress. Thanks!

Eileen

November 2, 2013 #

Wow! I’m obsessed with all things Mid Century and Charley Harper is one of my favourite artists so the idea of Charley Harper fabric is amazing!!! I’d make a 1950s-style dress with a big flared skirt to show of the lovely detail of the Red Eyed Vireos!

Lynda

November 2, 2013 #

Oh! what lovely designs, I’d love the leaves or the flower-seed-head fabric in blues, to make a Japanese style tunic/dress for me and a dress for GD, please :)

Oona

November 2, 2013 #

I love LOVE LOVE this fabric, and have been waiting breathlessly for it to be released. I love that the birds reflect details that are species accurate while still being artistic. My biologist friend really appreciates that. There are so many things that could be done with that fabric – some fabulous kid and adult casuals, but maybe also a quilt. Oh, the possibilities!

Chris

November 2, 2013 #

1. I love the muted colours and whimsy prints that can be used for all ages (me and the kids)
2. I LOVE KNITS. So glad more knits prints are coming. Like over the moon excited. So I’d pick a couple yards for me to make a dress or top, another yard for a raglan sleeve shirt for my son (sleeves a different print) and a dress or top for daughter, along with a yard of cotton to make a funky skirt in a coordinating print trimmed in knit fabric scraps (no ravelling) in circles to make flowers along the hem edge.

Tina

November 2, 2013 #

The fabrics are great. I am excited that they also offer knits and flannel. I would make my daughter and I some Jammie’s!

Sarah

November 2, 2013 #

I love Charley Harper’s work (I’ve been wishing for one of the needlepoint canvases) and am newly into birding, so these fabrics are perfect! I’m not certain but I’m really into the idea of a Lady Skater with one of the bird print knits, or a cozy set of flannel pajamas with the cardinals.

Carol Carrier

Oh wow, what an amazing giveaway, thank you!!! I love Charley Harper’s work – we have a memory game using his illustrations that is an absolute favourite. FIVE yards of fabric?!! Just the thought makes me giddy :) Dresses for me and my daughter? Or a few things for my daughter and a couple of cushions or a tote bag? Decisions, decisions!!!

Ana

November 2, 2013 #

1. I absolutely adore Charlie Harper’s work! I’ve always wanted to buy a CH needlework canvas but they’re too expensive for me :( This fabric is much more in my budget!

I love Charley Parker. His designs are the epitome of mid century design. I have thrilled myself and my young children with his drawings, particularly his beautiful pictures of nature, birds and wildlife. Their vibrant colours and gorgeous clean lines are a joy.

I would like to make a fabulous mid century bird dress for me and some jersey dresses for my girls. Darling!

Meg

Birch is brilliant and who doesn’t love Charley Harper?! I would love to make my crew knit pajamas—so cozy. And flannel pillowcases!! I will be making a CH quilt at some point also. (five yards would just be the beginning!!) Thank you for the giveaway!

I am excited about the new knit fabrics! I have always wanted to make a dress for myself out of a cute knit fabric, so that is what I would make if I am lucky enough to win.
Thanks!!

November 2, 2013 #

Beautiful prints! I have a horrible time finding knit prints locally so I love that. But honestly, I’d probably want to make Christmas PJs for my kids with that adorable cardinal print.

Lydia

November 2, 2013 #

I love this collection so much!! I would definitely have to make a dress out of the five yards!

Karen

November 2, 2013 #

Oh my gosh, this is soooo dangerous. I can easily imagine my 401K being used to buy all the Charley Harper prints in all the different fabrics.

I’m a birder, and I love so much how he put the personality of the birds into the drawing, whether it’s the ultra-cool look of a cardinal, or the frenzied activity of the delicate hummingbirds or the jauntiness of woodpeckers.

Hmmm. The canvas could be a rain jacket with matching umbrella? And use some flannel to line it? And the extra flannel for pajamas and some cute boxers for the Roommate? And the knit for a fun summer dress. And of course the poplin for another Slenderette, my favorite summer dress pattern! (http://bellaindustries.blogspot.com/search/label/slenderette)

Thanks…I think. ;-)

Mimi

November 2, 2013 #

I’m in love with the modern, streamlined design of the bird fabrics. They’re so unique and I think anything made with them will be special. I’d love to make a dress from a vintage pattern that I’ve been lusting after for quite a while.
