New Pattern Coming Soon!
Get your countdown clocks ready, we have a new pattern releasing on September 17th!

Rachel is a nerdy Oregon native with a philosophy degree and classical dance background. She fancies her personal style to be quirky sophistication, focusing on the importance of fit while adding special touches of handmade embellishments. She is also a connoisseur of whiskey and nap-taker extraordinaire.
Oooh exciting! Need to get my skates on and make my Hawthorn – have a bit of a pattern back log at the moment (not that that ever stops me from buying more – bad girl)!
ooooohhhh… I’m gonna guess it’s a nice full gathered skirt, which is exactly what I need in my wardrobe currently. Those pockets seem super nice and big!
Tick Tock Tick Tock.. I am feel just like a child waiting for Christmas Day to come.. Should we make an advent calender, opening each little door, with perhaps a picture of a needle, a thimble or spool of thread behind each door until the big day?!
I’ve only just begun sewing – thanks to the Colette Sewing Handbook :) I’m loving the patterns you guys put and absolutely can’t wait to see what comes out next!
This does look cute but every time I see a new release with pockets I always get disheartened. My sewing machine is older and the buttonhole feature doesn’t work any more so I can’t make any patterns which require a significant amount of buttoms. Sigh. Snaps just aren’t as cute!
they have their own look that machine buttonholes can’t copy – so it’s a plus! perfect for sitting in front of the tv or doing some hand sewing in park on a nice day :)
i work on a treadle so i know how you feel. but whenever i feel SUPER lazy, i just pay a tailor to make them for me. i’m sure any place that does alterations would also make buttonholes.
Try using the zigzag feature of your sewing machine to make a button hole. The wider zigzag for the top and bottom sections of the button hole and narrow ones for the sides. It will look more like a rectangle but work just fine. That is how I made button holes for many, many years. Try it, and I hope it works well for you.
However, the button over the snaps is a good alternative.
So excited about the new pattern, lovin’ those pocket already. The voting on Martha is weird. First couple of times it let me vote 6 times, then only one/day. Now today, six times again???

Why not put snaps on the inside and just sew buttons on the outside just for show? That would look cute.

yes you can! well you have to be willing to hand sew… a buttonhole or blanket stitch! -> http://www.heritageshoppe.com/heritage/stitches/blanketstitch.html
