Gingham twins

Ever since I made a pair of gingham shorts a month or so ago, Caitlin has lived in fear that we would both come in one day wearing matching pairs. She once almost texted me to tell me not to wear mine, because she was going to wear hers.

Well, the dreaded day finally came. We were gingham twinsies. We made the decision not to leave the studio together that day.

(Seriously, though… isn’t gingham awesome? If you subscribe to Snippets, you probably saw our tip this week about why we love it so much.)

PS: I love that I look taller than Caitlin in this photo! I’m wearing platform sandals.

aw, why wouldn’t you want to match? i’m always so tickled when i discover that i’m wearing the same thing as one of my friends.

i like both of your shorts! i made a pair of madeline bloomers in bright blue gingham (with red bows – everyone calls me dorothy when i wear them haha), but i need some “real” shorts in gingham. gingham just makes me so happy :D

Gingham is so cool! I’m really partial to black and white gingham. While the weather’s hot, I’ve been wearing my gingham shorts at least once a week.

One of my co-workers and I had the same gray dress and I always texted her when I was going to wear mine. She eventually left the company and one of the first things I thought about was, “YES! Now I can wear the gray dress whenever I want!” Sad.

I’ve been following your blog for awhile, and I just love your articles.

You look adorable in matching shorts. But not adorable in a four-year-old way. Adorable as in you just look like really great, fun friends sort of way.

Love the gingham shorts, btw. Now I want some!

I’ve been toying with making something in gingham (or seersucker) too, but I can’t make up my mind. Maybe shorts?

I have some seersucker shorts too (thrifted, though). I feel like the only problem with seersucker is that it’s so light and sometimes a bit sheer.

The gingham I used for the shorts is pretty thick and sturdy. I love it.

Too darned cute! One of these days I’ll wear shorts in public again…

I can’t live without my summer shorts. So cool and comfy! But I hear you, I never used to wear them in public either until a few years ago.

Ah but they are not exactly alike, so it’s ok, I think. (Though I don’t like matching, so I understand your feelings).
I wonder, what do you think of (medium dark) blue and white ginham? I bought some a few weeks ago to use for a top, the squares are approximately 1/4 by 1/4 inch. I thought buying the fabric was a good idea, since I love my grey ginham dress. But I’m not feeling it, if the fabric were grey or black, yes, if the squares were smaller, yes. But now? I think it might look country-girl-ish, or a-certain-kind-of-tomboy-I-can’t-think-of-a-name-for-ish. Both cute styles, but definitely not for me.
What do you think when you see blue and white ginham?

If they’d been exactly the same it would have been REALLY weird.

I love blue and white gingham! Black and grey are my favorites too, I agree with you there. And I can also see how blue and white can go a little too country for some people. But I think it can also look really interesting and fresh!

HEE! Too cute! Damn, now I want to make some gingham shorts. But it’s rather late in the season – maybe for next year.

Ack, don’t say that! We still have so much summer left… don’t we?

You two look adorable! You’re not twinsies at all…..just enough difference to be unique.
*Love* them.
