Seamwork Radio: Design, Fame, and Villainy with Gretchen Jones
Gretchen Jones is the controversial winner of season 8 of Project Runway. Her singular style won the show, but her bold and ambitious personality led her to be cast as the season’s villain. In this interview with contributor Heather Lewenza, Gretchen talks about what led her to put herself out there on television, what life was like after sudden fame, and how she’s discovered her true career path through it all.
Just a note, this recording does have several words that you may not find appropriate for young listeners.

What a wonderful episode! I really enjoy this interview with Gretchen Jones and having the opportunity to understand her better.
I’m a Denver resident and a Project Runway fan, so I’ve always been on Team Mondo, but have also always been curious about how PR presents the contestants and what kind of effect it actually has on them, good or bad. Ms. Jones can certainly be abrasive, especially when set up by a reality show, but what’s really wrong with being direct?
I think it’s easy for our society to discount the intelligence, talent, and individualism of others when we are so used to being accommodated by extremely generous services, pleased by instant gratification; and entertained by maximum drama and sentimentality. I think as humans, we also naturally want everything to be fair and deserved, so it’s hard to swallow when we are reminded how much of our lives are actually based on really hard work – and a LOT of luck.
I love Seamwork Radio – awesome job, Colette Team (and Heather)!

Love the radio segments — thank you for developing such thoughtful content. My only issue is that the volume can be off between the voice over and the actual interview. For this one I had to really crank it to hear Sarai giving the background, and then it was REALLY loud when Gretchen would speak. Hopefully volume balance is something you can fine tune a little bit more. Thanks!!

Thanks for the feedback! I did have some trouble with the levels on this one because of the way they were recorded, but I will try to keep an eye on this next time!

I have loved all of the previous episodes – but couldn’t get through the first 10 minutes of this one with Gretchen’s upspeak. Yikes!!! Like fingernails on a chalk board.
