Three Outfits for Winter

I’ve shown you some ways to style the lovely new patterns in the Colette Sewing Handbook. Here are a few of our patterns styled for winter, with a common theme: red. Often in winter it’s easy to blend into the season with dark colors. But why can’t winter be as bright and fun as summer? When I put these outfits together, I strove to bring some exuberance and playfulness into them. What do you think? How do you keep from falling into the drab looks of winter? What would you suggest?

Lovely styling, but that does not count as anywhere near winter where I live, more like late spring/early autumn. Winter means woolskirts/dresses, cotton/wool tights, wool bloomers, mittens, etc. I’m currently working on getting some more colour and patterns into my winter wardrobe, though. Isn’t it strange how hard it can be to find brightly coloured quality wool? Esp when considering how easy wool is to dye!
Time to sew that red dress I’ve wanted for ages…

I just love your styling suggestions! I would also love to see some everyday Colette looks. Or maybe weekend looks, you know? Not just office things. I’m no Donna Reed and can’t quite make heels and stockings work everyday. Though your outfits do make me think maybe an office job wouldn’t be so bad. or maybe I should just do the vacuuming in heels once in a while. :)

These are some great styling options to brighten the cold, dark days of winter. The pops of yellow, orange and red make this bright and festive. I like them all.

Too bad I work in quite a conservative company. Seing all the reds and oranges would probably make my colleagues call the fire fighters. Here you already stick out if your shirt has a different colour than white or light blue. But on a weekend these styling suggeting would be perfect. Thank you.

These are some of my favorite types of posts on the Coletterie. I love seeing all the different ways these patterns have been made up. I would love to dress like this everyday. I also agree with an earlier commenter – some everyday casual looks would be a good idea, too.

I love the fiery Sencha! The anthropologie skirt is fabulous; if only I could find some of that fabric to make up one of my own!
