Free Pattern Hack: Shaped Hem Mabel

mabel-hack-text

I love a good chameleon garment. Take your favorite pair of jeans for instance, no matter your mood, you rarely feel out of place wearing them.

Mabel is one of those pieces. Made up in a grey french terry and worn with your favorite t-shirt it is perfect for a lazy Sunday, or worn with a cashmere sweater and pearls it can be classic and chic.

For this month’s Pattern Hack, I wanted to create something that was interesting, beautiful, but also did not distract from Mabel‘s classic appeal.

The solution? A Mabel with a shaped hem.

We have kept all of the features that so many love about the original pattern, like the contoured waistband and flattering fit, but added a sweet scalloped hem to make this staple a stand out garment.

I absolutely love the result. I think it strikes the perfect balance between modern and feminine.

I made this version for Sarai out of a pale blue heathered Ponte. Styled with an Aberdeen top, it is as pretty as it is comfortable. And who doesn’t love an outfit that feels like undercover pajamas?

Remember that through the end of May you can get Mabel for 20% off when you use the code MABELMONTH at check out.
