Tell all the Truth but tell it slant

Emily Dickinson

Tell all the Truth but tell it slant—
Success in Cirrcuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth’s superb surprise
As Lightening to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind—

I love Dickinson and Carroll, but I don’t recommend their approaches for sewing and design. Literal tends to be better.

Literal is probably better for the technical side of things, but for the creative side? It seems to me that looking at things in a new way is pretty critical to design, and not just fashion design.

I think that is one of the lovliest things I’ve read in a long time. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks. I just wrote it down in my calendar. It’s very inspiring!
