Celebrate Ginger Month with 20% Off

True story, the first time I made an a-line skirt, I burned through approximately 4 yards of fabric. I started over so many times that I used three times the fabric I actually needed. This was equal parts, me being a perfectionist, and not understanding the one-way nap of the corduroy fabric I chose.

Years later, the simple seams, waistband, and zipper of an a-line skirt no longer cause me to sweat. Instead, I like to sew garments like this to refresh my sewing palette. The straight forward techniques are a relaxing break from reversed corners and baby hems.

The simplicity of an a-line skirt is just as easy to wear, as it is to sew. As a sewist, August is the month I put away my summer projects, and start focusing on transitional pieces that I can wear now, but will also carry me into fall.

Separates like the Ginger skirt are ideal for this time of year. Styled with a cotton tee, or Aster blouse, Ginger is perfect for warm days, but worn with tights and a sweater, it is also perfectly suited for fall. This month I gathered inspiration for transitional Ginger skirts, that are both stylish and functional.

1) This 1970s inspired denim skirt has a simple shape that is complimented by topstitching and waistband tabs.

2) This pineapple printed skirt features cute center front buttons.

3) The midi length and monochromatic palette of this floral skirt is so sophisticated.

4) The petal hemline of this skirt is so sweet, especially in a classic camel wool.

5) A tweed skirt is a classic option for cooler weather, a shorter hemline and zippered pockets update this look.

6) A bold print is perfect for the simple shape of an a-line skirt. This painterly swan skirt is so fun!

Does the discount not apply to the PDF version? Shipping more than doubles the price of the paper pattern, so I need the downloadable version.

Sorry about that, we have fixed that issue. The promotion code should now work for both print and PDF patterns.Thank you for bringing that to our attention.

The swan skirt seems very far from the Ginger pattern. Is there a pattern hack available?

I think it might just be saying A-line skirts look good in large prints, but I might be wrong!

Too many things to finish sewing at the moment, but I always admire the patterns! The promotion months are a great idea.

Love the discount! :) but being 6 months pregnant and having 5 other kiddos I don’t really look great in skirts anymore.. I’ll have to hold out til there is a dress pattern with a little more room in the tummy area!

Are there going to be any alterations with this pattern? I was extremely sad to not see any alterations or tutorials with my favorite pattern, the Lily. I thought that was the purpose of pattern of the month.
