Burda Türkiye

Burda Turkiye

This week I’m inspired by Burda Türkiye, and grabbed the February 2008 magazine off my shelf to take a peek now that it is getting colder here. This issue is packed with winter jackets, skirts, tunics and accessories, and I loved the green felted jacket on the cover with a very modern belt cinched at the waist. My Turkish mother-in-law is a seamstress, and she has whole shelves in her sewing room dedicated to past issues of Burda. When I need a little pick-me-up or some ideas, I often find myself in her room pouring over magazines or peeking to see if she has any new fabric. Whenever my trusty little Singer isn’t industrial enough to sew through fat layers of fabric, I borrow hers, or better yet, watch her as she works quickly with precision.

I love this inky blue tunic and could see it paired with skinny jeans or dressed down, too, for daytime. Not every issue interests me, but this one is a special “practical sewing” issue for ‘modern and youthful fashion’. Check out the ‘Love Story’ in this month’s issue (Nov 09).

Has anyone seen the German Burda? I will be scrounging up a vintage copy to share with you one day soon! xo Rose
